Institutional investors are bearish on Bitcoin and Ethereum, with altcoins like Solana and XRP considered better alternatives. CoinShares reports a $1.2 billion outflow from digital asset funds globally, indicating a "true correction." Outflows reflect pessimism for US FED interest rate cuts. Bitcoin saw $630 million outflows, while multi-asset products saw $98 million inflows. The selloff mostly came from the US and Canada, with inflows seen in Switzerland and Brazil. Solana recorded $2.7 million in buying, trading at $125. XRP saw $0.7 million in investments, trading at $0.475.
The $1.2 billion digital asset investment outflow globally reflects pessimism for US FED interest rate cuts. Digital asset investment products registered a $584 million outflow in a week, according to a CoinShares report on June 24. James Butterfill of CoinShares notes that Bitcoin was the primary focus, witnessing US$630m in outflows. Multi-asset products saw US$98m inflows, indicating investors see the altcoin market weakness as a buying opportunity. The selloff mainly involved investors in the US and Canada, accounting for $475 million and $109 million, with Switzerland and Brazil defying the trend and seeing inflows of $39 million and $48.5 million respectively.
Altcoins such as Solana, XRP, Litecoin, and Polygon experienced inflows, while Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Cardano faced selling pressure. Solana saw $2.7 million in buying, trading at $125, down 6% amid a market-wide selloff. XRP received $0.7 million in investments, trading at $0.475. This comes as Bitcoin fell under $61k and Ethereum dropped below $3,300, with both recording a 5% dip in the past 24 hours. XRP's price fell 2% in the past 24 hours, and the trading volume increased by 165% in the last 24 hours.
