Preeti Singh, SA News Editor - Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) is recalling certain 2024 Cybertruck vehicles to repair a faulty accelerator pedal pad that may dislodge and become trapped by the interior trim. - A trapped accelerator pedal could cause the vehicle to accelerate unintentionally, increasing the risk of a crash, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said in a notice. - The recall affects 3,878 units of the vehicle. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in June 2024. Tesla (TSLA) service will replace or repair the accelerator pedal assembly, free of charge. - Tesla (TSLA) started deliveries of its Cybertruck electric pickup truck late last year, marking the company’s first new model in almost four years. - The electric pickup truck concept was first announced by Tesla (TSLA) in 2019, but pilot production could only begin in 2023 amid battery-supply constraints and manufacturing issues. - Shares of the automaker were down 1.44% premarket on Friday and around 40% year-to-date.
