Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) reached a settlement on the long-running case of an Autopilot car crash that led to the death of Walter Huang, an Apple engineer, in 2018 in Northern California. Huang's Model X, operating on Tesla's (TSLA) driver-assistant technology Autopilot, veered off a highway close to San Francisco. His family had alleged that Autopilot steered the vehicle into a concrete barrier. Tesla (TSLA) contended that Huang misused Autopilot, with evidence indicating that he was playing a video game on his iPhone when the car crashed into the barrier. The settlement with the Huang family was reached a day before the trial was set to begin. No further details on the settlement amount were provided. Tesla (TSLA) previously won two Autopilot lawsuits in California by claiming the drivers had disregarded the system's warnings to pay attention. Last week, Tesla (TSLA) laid out plans to unveil its Robotaxi service on August 8. The automaker's stock was marginally lower premarket on Tuesday, down 0.3% to $172.51.
